One of the defining features of Game Jawn’s upcoming EverQuest Legends that differentiates it as its own thing instead of just a progression server is the fact that player characters can multiclass, combining three classes into one amalgam of combat. So naturally, the second episode in the MMORPG’s new weekly video series is going to offer a closer look.
The video first points out that it isn’t a granular look at class mechanics or balance — those are promised in later videos — but it does grant an overview of how multiclassing works. As mentioned before, players select two classes at character creation: one that is associated with their chosen race, and a second that’s freely available from the list of 16, bar the first chosen class (obviously). A third class is unlocked at level 10, once again granting players the opportunity to select from any of the full list.
After character creation, players will be earning XP for all sixteen classes at once until level 10, after which the classes that are specifically equipped will gain XP. Players will later be able to earn tokens through gameplay that let them equip a primary class that would otherwise be race-locked. Similar tokens also exist for race unlocks and chosen deities as well, also earned through gameplay.
This is where the loadout options come into play, letting players create loadouts of race, classes, gear, and UI, though there is also an option for gear and UI to be shared between loadouts if one so chooses. Players should be aware that any time a loadout is switched or edited, character level is automatically adjusted to the lowest level of the two or three chosen classes.
