Game of Mods is a voice-driven adventure and creation platform for Apple Silicon Macs in which every character is driven by a language model running on the player’s machine. Players speak or type to characters, who answer aloud in their own voices, remember the conversation, and stay in character; nothing is sent to the cloud and no account is required. The game includes a spoken tutorial and short authored stories called journeys, plus a Studio for building NPCs, player characters, journeys and spaces as data-only mods (JSON with VRM and GLB assets) that can be shared through Steam Workshop. Rendering uses Metal 4 with VRM avatars, dialogue is generated by an on-device Gemma 4 model, and speech uses Apple’s speech recognition and synthesis. Every voice path has a keyboard equivalent, and the game is designed to be playable without seeing the screen.
