Elder Scrolls Online became the first major MMORPG of the year to put all its chips on the table with the announcement of its new seasonal model and controversial battlepass business plan – though it landed in the context of the game’s former boss finally making clear just what kind of villain ZeniMax’s corporate owner Microsoft is.
Meanwhile, we concluded our awards rollout with our picks for MMORPG of the year, best expansion, most anticipated, best studio, and best indie MMO, plus we doled out our lifetime achievement award. Congrats to all our winners! We’ll have our full debrief on awards season later this week.
In the meantime, read on to catch up with the very best of this week’s MMO news and opinions today as every Sunday (since 2010!) in Massively Overpowered’s Week in Review!
