The informational hits keep on coming for Elder Scrolls Online’s big ol’ March content patch, and while most of the attention has been centered on its seasons and monetization reshuffling, there’s a variety of things also landing in Update 49, namely a refresh of the Dragonknight class.
The tweaks to the Dragonknight primarily focus on several problems with the class, such as “swingy” DPS moments, a homogenization of DoT effects that make it not stand out, and lacking effectiveness in support roles. To address these issues, the team will be adjusting the class’ skill lines that lean more into the attrition gameplay style and take the impact of the sub-classing meta into account, which the devs admit is a significantly widespread problem for ESO overall.
As one might expect, these updates get pretty granular, but the overall thrust is that Dragonknights will see some abilities and passives shift, a variety of updated animations, a change of poison damage sources to flame damage instead, and tweaks to the behavior and damage output of practically every ability. There’s basically a lot to digest, so Dragonknight enjoyers will likely want to take the time to read through in full.
As for the rest of Update 49, that’s introducing a whole slew of quality-of-life improvements such as making vampirism and lycanthropy earnable (and curable) for free instead of via the cash shop, the ability to purchase mounts for gold, lowered costs for bag and bank upgrades, significantly faster riding skill training speed, and easier to find respec UI, among many other additions. These changes will be discussed in more detail during a livestream scheduled for Monday, January 12th, at 11:00 a.m. EST, but you can click the image below for the synopsis ahead of time.
