Battlefield 6 Update 2.1.1.0 Patch Notes: Vehicle Balance, REDSEC Changes and Weapon Tweaks

Battlefield 6 update 2.1.1.0 went live on October 13, 2026 alongside Season 5: Siege of Vegas. We covered the new maps and the Dead Space event in our Season 5 overview. This post focuses on the patch notes: the balance changes that affect how you play.
Vehicles and anti-air
The developers said anti-air cannons were not punishing aggressive fly-bys enough, and that light attack aircraft, especially the Scout Helicopter, were too strong against infantry. The patch tackles both:
- Mobile Anti-Air: faster projectiles, less drag, tighter dispersion, a 50% faster base turret rotation and a maximum range of roughly 800m. Damage against jets and infantry went up across the main ammunition types.
- Helicopter rockets: splash damage on the 70mm light rocket is cut by 30%, and the rocket pod resupply cooldown rises from 28 to 38 seconds.
- Helicopter durability: light rockets now need 7 hits against a Scout Helicopter (up from 4), 9 against an Attack Helicopter (up from 5) and 15 against a Transport Helicopter (up from 11).
- Tanks and IFVs: passive health regeneration is slower, with critical to full health now taking 8 seconds. Tank rear hits within a narrow angle deal 2.5x damage.
One change did not ship. The team wanted aircraft flying below radar to be more vulnerable to infantry lock-on missiles, but said Battlefield Labs testing showed it needed more iteration.
Weapons, gadgets and audio
- DMRs: the SVDM and M39 EMR are less controllable under sustained rapid fire, after changes to their recoil direction and recoil recovery. The developers say methodical use is barely affected.
- Gamepad: recoil compensation drops from 11% to 5%.
- LTLM II laser: designation duration is reduced from 9 to 2 seconds.
- Footsteps: enemy footsteps now use an improved priority system and are easier to hear through partial obstruction. The developers acknowledge this may cause confusion in some situations and want feedback.
REDSEC changes
- Faster armor plating: armor plate application is 20% faster by default in Battle Royale and Rapid Royale.
- Class training rework: the Hazmat Breacher (Assault) and Drone Operator (Recon) paths are removed. Recon now focuses on local intel and sabotage with the Handheld Jammer instead of the Recon Drone.
- Weapon tuning against armor: many carbines, SMGs, rifles and DMRs now take one more bullet to kill against armor at the ranges the developers consider outside their intended use. Sniper and DMR ammo capacity drops from 70 to 60.
- Loot: Smoke Generator and UAV Strike Packages appear less often, and Airstrikes slightly more often.
Also in the update
Portal creators get new Custom Maps and Verified Portal Modes, plus new SDK functions. The patch also adds Season 4 catch-up challenges for the BROD 3, Interdictor and VSSM, along with a long list of UI, audio and AI fixes.
What it means for players
Pilots should expect fewer easy infantry kills and a more dangerous ground-to-air fight, while REDSEC squads will notice faster plating and different class roles. Hotfixes may have followed since launch, so check the official notes for the latest numbers. You can find more on the Battlefield 6 game page.
