FiveM for GTA V Enhanced: What Cfx.re Has Confirmed So Far

By JamaicanKyddUpdated

FiveM, the platform behind most custom Grand Theft Auto V roleplay servers, entered early access for GTA V Enhanced on July 21, 2026. Developer Cfx.re, which Rockstar Games acquired in 2023, has warned that the Enhanced client is an early-access release and that players and server owners should expect bugs. Here is what has been confirmed so far.

What FiveM on GTA V Enhanced changes

Until this year, FiveM only worked with the older Legacy version of GTA V on PC. According to Cfx.re’s development updates, as reported by GTA BOOM, the Enhanced project includes:

  • A separate client: the Enhanced client runs separately from Legacy, and Legacy remains available.
  • OneSync overhaul: the server synchronization system was rebuilt to reduce CPU, bandwidth and memory use. The 2,048-player slot count requires the Platinum Element Club tier.
  • New voice chat: a rebuilt voice system replaces Mumble while keeping existing voice natives.
  • Backward compatibility: existing Lua, C# and JavaScript features and natives remain supported, and a modern .NET 10 runtime replaces Mono.
  • Asset conversion: a tool called Alchemist converts 3D assets to work on Enhanced.
  • Connection changes: servers may see slower first loads, fewer configuration-driven restarts and faster disconnection, so server protections need adjusting.

What is still missing

Cfx.re said Asset Escrow, the system that protects paid resources, would not be ready for the initial early access. Creators who rely on it can stay on Legacy while the Enhanced client matures. No final release date has been given for leaving early access.

What it means for players and server owners

The Legacy version of GTA V still runs FiveM, and most roleplay communities continue to operate on it, so players do not need to switch today. Enhanced support is mainly groundwork for better performance and for keeping the modding scene current as the game ages. Server owners who use Asset Escrow should wait before moving.

What about GTA VI?

FiveM is built for the PC version of GTA V, and Cfx.re has described its Rockstar partnership as focused on FiveM and RedM. Nothing from Rockstar or Cfx.re confirms FiveM or roleplay support for Grand Theft Auto VI, which Rockstar has announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19.
